Patrick Reed strengthened his lead at the top of the Race to Dubai Rankings Delivered by DP World at the Amgen Irish Open ahead of a potentially significant week in the season run-in on the DP World Tour.
The American, who has now been at the top of the season-long standings for 31 weeks, finished tied second alongside Joaquin Niemann behind Shane Lowry at Trump International Golf Links & Hotel, Ireland, Doonbeg.
As the Back 9 continues this week at Wentworth Club for the return of the Rolex Series with the BMW PGA Championship, Reed now holds an advantage of 839.76 points over reigning Race to Dubai champion Rory McIlroy, who finished tied 41st in Ireland as he bids to draw level with Colin Montgomerie's record haul of eight Harry Vardon Trophies.
In his pursuit of the dual prize of the Race to Dubai crown and a PGA Tour card for next season, the 2018 Masters champion is scheduled to play four of the next six events on the Back 9 having already played every week since the Nexo Championship.
Another player who boosted his hopes of becoming a dual member in 2027 over the weekend was Denmark's Jacob Skov Olesen, who recorded his eighth top ten of the campaign with a tie for seventh at Ireland's national open to climb from 11th to ninth on the Rankings.
Lowry vaulted 73 places from 90th to 17th as he became a seven-time DP World Tour winner and two-time winner of his home open.
In his first appearance at a regular DP World Tour event since becoming a PGA Tour winner, Alex Fitzpatrick finished tied seventh to climb six places to 22nd, with Rasmus Neergaard-Petersen six places further back after rising into the top 30 after finishing solo fourth.
Among other notable movers, Gregorio De Leo climbed into the top 50 after a closing 63 saw him finish in a tie for fifth alongside Tom McKibbin, who closed in on the top 70 and qualification for the Abu Dhabi Championship by rising 24 places to 72nd.
Sebastian Söderberg climbed from 101st to 97th, with the top 100 keeping their full playing privileges on the Race to Dubai next season.
