Chacarra played the front nine in five under par to erase Forrest and Joe Dean's overnight lead and his own birdie at the last gave him hope of a play-off.
But Forrest made a good up-and-down from off the front of the 18th green to earn his first DP World Tour victory outside of his native Scotland - as well as invitations to both the 2027 Masters Tournament and the 155th Open Championship at St Andrews.
"I'm in shock, honestly, pure shock right now," he said.
"That's fairy tale stuff, I've played two Opens and to be going to Augusta, I just can't get my head round it. You can have a great career in this game and never get to go to Augusta, so I cannot believe it."

South Africa's Thriston Lawrence gave an early indication that scores were there to be made with four birdies in five holes from the fourth to reach the turn in 32, eventually shooting 65.
Jacob Skov Olesen hit the front with a birdie-birdie start - all the more impressive as the first, at an average of 0.33 over par for the week, has played as the hardest opening hole of the DP World Tour season and gave up only one other birdie on Sunday, to Quim Vidal.
Chacarra birdied the second and third and then, after misjudging his pitch on to the fourth green, responded by holing an astonishing 47-foot putt over a ridge for yet another birdie and celebrated vociferously.
With Olesen finding trouble on the third to give back his early gains, Chacarra was suddenly only two off the summit.
Joakim Lagergren started alongside Chacarra on eight under but bogeyed the third - but he bounced straight back in style with an eagle at the next.
Dean dropped a shot at the second and Forrest followed suit at the third, with Joel Girrbach's birdie at the fourth creating a four-way tie at the top which also included Olesen. Forrest and Dean nudged ahead again with birdies at the fourth.
Chacarra said during an on-course interview on the sixth: "This is what I needed, I'm excited for the fight. I need to get to eight or nine (under par for the round) to have a chance, that's what my goal is."
While his early momentum stuttered briefly with a bogey at the sixth, he eagled the next to move one off the lead.
That 40-footer from off the green meant he had holed 114 feet of putts through seven holes, already more than his 18-hole tally in any of his first three rounds, and a birdie from a more straightforward six feet at the next took him alongside Dean and meant an outward nine of 31.
Forrest dropped two behind after bogeys at the sixth and eighth while Girrbach and Olesen both birdied the seventh to rejoin the leaders, followed by Victor Perez thanks to birdies at the seventh and eighth.
Chacarra went close again from the fringe at the tenth and made an excellent two-putt for par at the 13th, while Perez dropped a shot at the 11th.
Dan Brown finished with five straight birdies to set the clubhouse target at 11 under. The Englishman's round contained nine birdies in all, marred only by a double bogey at the fifth.
Ludwig Aberg made three straight birdies from the 13th to move back into the top 10 at nine under. The Swede had bogeyed his first two holes but responded with four birdies on the front nine, and dropped a shot at the 12th immediately before his run of gains.
Dean bogeyed the 12th to leave only Chacarra and Olesen tied at the top, while Forrest was also one back after birdies at the tenth and 13th either side of a bogey at the 11th.
The Scot pulled level once more with a third birdie in four holes at the 14th, while Chacarra bogeyed the 17th after finding a greenside bunker off the tee.
The Spaniard birdied the last to set the target at 13 under and was left waiting to see how his rivals finished, with Forrest through the back of the 16th green. He got up and down for par but Dean dropped a shot to fall one behind the leaders.
Olesen bogeyed the 17th to miss out on 12 under, as did Dean who finished a shot further back, but Forrest sealed the deal with a well-judged chip and a putt from just inside four feet.

Forrest had missed his previous four cuts, since retiring from the Husqvarna British Masters hosted by Sir Nick Faldo, and came into the week only 118th on the Race to Dubai Rankings delivered by DP World.
The winner of the 2021 Hero Open and 2025 Nexo Championship, both in his homeland, tied for third place in this event in both 2021 and 2024 before another top-20 finish last year.
He said: "I was texting my wife about an hour before I teed off, saying ‘I haven’t been this nervous for a long time’. It’s a good thing and I just tried to embrace it and I’m just really proud of the way we dug in there today.
“Some of the names on that trophy, it’s incredible. I love this tournament, this venue, this city – the past six or seven years it’s been good to me already. Obviously today it was extra special, and a couple of extra things that come along with it as well.
"This year’s been a real struggle to this point and to walk away with the Spanish Open trophy and a spot in the Open and Augusta… I’m still in shock, to be honest.”
