Haeran Ryu opened the BMW Ladies Championship in her home country with a bogey-free, 5-under 67 on Thursday, moving into a tie for third at Pine Beach Golf Links.

Ryu, 25, sits one shot behind co-leaders Karis Davidson and Yuri Yoshida, who each carded a 6-under 66 on the par-72 course. Three rounds remain.

Ryu began on the front nine making her first birdie at the par-5 second to reach 1-under. Birdies at the par-4 fifth and par-5 sixth moved her to 3-under, and three more pars allowed her to turn in 33. She then made birdies at the par-3 15th and par-4 16th pushed her to 5-under. Pars at the 17th and 18th completed a back-nine 34.

Ball-striking powered the round. Ryu found 13 of 14 fairways, hit 17 of 18 greens in regulation (GIR) and averaged 252.0 yards off the tee, needing only 32 putts. Her iron play has been a calling card all year. She leads the LPGA Tour in GIR at 79.04%, in greens hit from the fairway at 86.55% and in strokes gained approach at 1.50 per round. She also ranks third in strokes gained total (2.24) and strokes gained off the tee (0.91).

The performance fits the form of a player who has won two majors in 2026. Ryu, who owns five career LPGA Tour victories, claimed the KPMG Women's PGA Championship and The Amundi Evian Championship this season and has not finished worse than T12 in any major. She has 10 top-10 finishes in 15 starts, including a T6 at the AIG Women's Open and a T9 at the FM Championship, which she won in 2024. She is currently ranked fourth in the Race to CME Globe.

Ryu has played some of the best golf of her career in 2026, and Thursday’s 67 kept that momentum going as the season heads toward its close. With 54 holes remaining, she will look to keep her iron play sharp as she chases a third victory of the season and sixth career title.
